What equipment do we need?
Everything except toilets and washing
facilities. Sleeping, cooking and living areas are needed. All cooking is to
be done on gas.
Can I get replacement Gaz?
Arrangements have been made with
a local supplier and Gaz will be available. Let us know if you need a particular
type of cylinder.
Are there any shops nearly?
Yes - Brampton village, which is
within walking distance, has a selection of shops including a small co-op. Huntingdon
is about 2 miles away and has several large supermarkets. A shuttle bus will
be available at various times of the day to the local stores.
Can we choose which sub camp
we are on?
Sub camps will be allocated by the
admin team to make sure there is a good mix of people on each sub camp though
you can request to camp with another group from your area or that you have links
with. Please make this clear on the booking form.
Can we have visitors?
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate
general visitors to the site though if you have a VIP you think it may be appropriate
to invite please let us know and we shall see what can be done.
Can we bring friends who are
not Scouts or Guides?
Everyone taking part must be a member
of the Scout Association or Guide Movement.
Security?
Everyone will have an ID pass and
scarf which MUST be worn at all times. The ID will have a photo, name, sub camp
and age on. There will be 24-hour security provision. Each sub camp has 24-hour
telephone communications with Security HQ so any problems and questions can
be dealt with promptly.
Food?
Participants will be required to
arrange their own catering. For those who are joining us from abroad arrangements
can be made to hire cooking equipment.
Indoor catering for staff members
has been arranged with the Racecourse caters; further details on the staff application
form.
Can we bring our partner or
children?
Children of leaders and back up
staff will be allowed to attend the camp though there is a limit to the number
and type of activities they will be able to participate in. It will be the leaders
responsibility to ensure anyone over the age of 18 has the appropriate Police
clearance.
There will be a crèche available
during the camp.
What about insurance?
Groups and participants are responsible
for their own personal, equipment and travel insurance.
Overseas groups must also arrange
their own medical cover before they arrive.
Can we substitute leaders /
helpers during the camp? For instance if a Leader/helper can only stay for part
of the camp will you make an additional charge if they are replaced?
There will be no problem in replacing
leaders during the camp and there will be no additional charge apart from a
small fee to cover the extra scarf and pass needed. Of course the person would
need to have the relevant CRB clearance and we should need to know who is coming
onto the camp.
Are we able to bring pets to
the camp?
No. Only guide dogs will be allowed
to come onto the site.
Can we bring cycles?
Yes, but at your own risk. Cycle
helmets must be worn at all times whilst riding your bike.
